Walking in the UK is awesome, we have some of the best scenic routes anywhere. I chose this hiking trail as amongst us we wanted something a bit challenging where we could camp away from the crowds that you come across on a day trek close to any roads. In Scotland you can wildcamp wherever you like which is a bonus and really lets you walk wherever you want. Once there you can have a good explore rather than walking 5 hours to somewhere then having to walk back out the same day having had little time to enjoy it whilst there. The Lairig Ghru is a great hiking trail in Scotland and well renound for being a picturesque neck of the woods (neck of the hills would be more appropriate a phrase here but it doesn't exist - nor in fact do any woods in this area) making it the perfect place for a spot of Munro Bagging.

We planned the walk to leave the Linn of Dee on Good Friday morning and to walk to Corrour Bothy at the foot of Devils Point right in the middle of the Lairig Ghru on the first day. We were hopeful that we would sleep in Corrour Bothy itself on the Friday night where we could warm ourselves through in front of a fire with the scotch and port doing the warming. The Saturday was planned to attempt the Munros of Devils Point, Cairn Toul, Angels Peak and Braeriach where we would descend from the western ridge of the Lairig Ghru and walk back to Corrour Bothy along the valley bottom. On the third and final day we were to retrace our steps of the first day and return via the southern part of the Lairig Ghru to the Linn of Dee car park and back to the Duke of Gordon for tea and medals (code for a good feed and countless pints).
Below is a video that Lee put together from the weekend, which I reckon captures it really well. I hope you enjoy.
